When Less Is Definitely Not More
I borrowed a fellow sergeant’s marked Tahoe for the execution of a search warrant last week. As I was checking out the rig, I saw these impromptu labels on his gun rack. Guess I can’t argue with that. Randall
Kel-Tec KSG Bullpup Shotgun Review
Finally! I waited two whole years from SHOT Show 2011 to SHOT 2013 to fire a Kel-Tec KSG bullpup shotgun. I really wanted to mount it on my shoulder to check out its maneuverability for room clearing. I wanted to test its ergonomics and controls. Mostly, I wanted to stack up with the boys and run a shoot house while wielding this particular shorty shotty. Well, at least I did get to fire the doggone thing. Cocoa, Florida’s Kel-Tec CNC debuted the KSG (Kel-Tec Shotgun) to the press two years ago. Since then, the KSG’s have been a little hard to come by–much like the KT RFB, which the KSG … Continue reading

DDupleks Kaviar 26L Frangible Shotgun Ammunition

A Kel-Tec KSG was used for the test. This is from the DDupleks website: Combined material shotgun slug for training and LE purposes. Slug expands and fragments only after hitting the target and provides energy transfer immediately without

UTAS UTS-15 Bullpup Shotgun Review
On SWAT training days, you see some strange weaponry brought out to the range. This is an UTAS UTS-15 military and police combat shotgun. It has a 15 round capacity of 2 3/4″ 12 gauge shotgun shells, feeding from two 7 round tubular magazines above the 20.5″ barrel. Overall length of the gun is 28.3″ and its weight is a light 6.9 pounds. UTAS (pronounced YOO-tash) is a Turkish firearms company that prides itself on innovative design. That is apparent in the UTS-15’s build. UTS-15 is a pump-action, bullpup shotgun. The receiver is 100% fiber reinforced injection molded polymer. In fact, 80% of the gun is polymer. Between photos one … Continue reading
Shotgun for Home Defense
If you don’t cruise by the GunBlast.com website occasionally, then you are missing out on the folksy GunBlog-stylings of Jeff, Boge, and Greg Quinn. In this video, on-air talent Jeff, whose double-pony-tailed beard is his trademark, talks about different shotgun rounds and demonstrates birdshot as a viable home defense load in a shotgun. I am a strong proponent of the shotgun as the most devastating close quarter weapon available. I have a Remington 870, set up with a Speedfeed III stock, Surefire light, and
