display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/NFfBqPBIdVg?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<p>This is a video review of the <a title=\"COAST Products\" href=\"http:\/\/www.coastportland.com\/\">COAST Products<\/a> Rapid Response Folding Knife.\u00a0 The knife makes me smile for several reasons.\u00a0 First, it is very well made.\u00a0 The production values are high and the knife has a quality feel.\u00a0 It is inexpensive.\u00a0 Not cheap, inexpensive.\u00a0 The knife in the video, which is the 3.9&#8243; 5Cr15MoV satin-finished blade can be purchased for only $41.49 (three dollars more for a black coated blade).\u00a0 Lastly, the knife performs well.<\/p>\n<p>COAST Products, which began as COAST Cutlery, has been a family-owned Oregon business since 1919.\u00a0 Although the company began making knives, the current product line includes LED lights and multi-tools.\u00a0 I have a <a title=\"COAST HP7 Review in BlueSheepdog\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bluesheepdog.com\/2012\/01\/02\/coast-hp7-review\/\">COAST HP7 LED light<\/a> that is also of high quality.\u00a0 The Rapid Response Knife was designed by world-renowned custom knife maker Ron Lake, so I was not surprised that I liked it so much.<\/p>\n<p>I savaged a cardboard box and chopped at a 2 X 4 with the Rapid Response Knife and found the blade to have good edge retention qualities.\u00a0 Because some steel can be inferior for a knife blade if not<!--more--> heat treated properly, I wanted to see how tough it was.\u00a0 The 5Cr15MoV stood up to the abuse.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/thinblueflorida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/IMG_3124.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-982\" title=\"IMG_3124\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/thinblueflorida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/IMG_3124.jpg\" width=\"1000\" height=\"728\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thinblueflorida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/IMG_3124.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/thinblueflorida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/IMG_3124-300x218.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/thinblueflorida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/IMG_3128.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-983\" title=\"IMG_3128\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/thinblueflorida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/IMG_3128.jpg\" width=\"1000\" height=\"750\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thinblueflorida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/IMG_3128.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/thinblueflorida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/IMG_3128-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/thinblueflorida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/IMG_3134.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-984\" title=\"IMG_3134\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/thinblueflorida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/IMG_3134.jpg\" width=\"1000\" height=\"750\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thinblueflorida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/IMG_3134.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/thinblueflorida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/IMG_3134-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/a>The 2 X 4 is old and very hard.\u00a0 I chopped at it pretty well and found the Rapid Response Knife&#8217;s weight an advantage in this respect.\u00a0 After cutting the box into unbox-i-like strips and hacking at the wood, the blade suffered no chips or other damage.\u00a0 In fact, it was still keen and sharp enough to cut more cardboard.\u00a0 Okay, the blade is good to go.<\/p>\n<p>It is a real safety bonus on this knife to have COAST&#8217;s Max-Lock mechanical locking mechanism to back up the Walker liner lock.\u00a0 Add to this the sheer enjoyment of snapping the blade open.\u00a0 The Smooth Assist Technology blade is fun to deploy and I can&#8217;t seem to put the knife down.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_965\" style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/thinblueflorida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/CoastRapidResponse2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-965\" class=\"size-full wp-image-965\" title=\"CoastRapidResponse2\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/thinblueflorida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/CoastRapidResponse2.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thinblueflorida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/CoastRapidResponse2.jpg 600w, https:\/\/thinblueflorida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/CoastRapidResponse2-300x150.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-965\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">3.9&#8243; Black Blade<\/p><\/div>\n<p>As I said in the video, I liked the larger knife so much, I ordered the 3&#8243; black bladed knife for on-duty carry.\u00a0 MSRP for that knife is just $38.49.\u00a0 The 3.9&#8243;
