"EmersonErnest Emerson has allied with noted author, speaker, and soldier Lt. Col. The Rangemaster Sheepdog has a 3.5 inch blade of 154 CM stainless steel, Rockwell Hardened to 57-59 on the C scale. The blade, available as a bowie or spear point and in black or stonewashed finishes, swings open via the patented Emerson Wave Feature, a thumb disk, or finger flipper action. Any one of these methods operates on a new Emerson ball bearing pivot system.

Grossman told Emerson, “It’s important that the user must be able to open the knife under high stress so I’d need it to have a flipper. With your wave, thumb button, and flipper, it’ll be the most deployable knife ever built, even in a gross motor skills environment.”

"EmersonThe remander of the Sheepdog is de rigueur Emerson: textured G-10 scales over titanium liners, right-side tip up pocket clip, and lanyard hole.

Lt. Col. Grossman is a world-recognized expert in the field of human aggression and violence. His books On Killing, On Combat, and Stop Teaching Our Kids to Kill should be required reading for all cops. Their insights into critical incidents and stress are profound.

A collaborative knife by Grossman and Emerson is a special one, indeed. The Rangemaster Sheepdog can be bought through Sheepdog Knife and Gun or Emerson Knives, Inc. MSRP starts at $239.95 for a stonewashed model. They are available now.

If you’ve ever been to one of his lectures, you know the Colonel’s intense close-eyed stare. “Sometimes the ultimate love is not to sacrifice your life, but to lead a life of sacrifice,” said Lt. Col. Dave Grossman. “Hua?” Sheepdog is definitely the right name for this knife.
