X 5&#8242; and 1&#8243; X 5&#8242; lengths, the latter of which is called Celox RAPID Ribbon gauze.<\/p>\n<p>Celox granules are laminated to the high density gauze material to provide easy packing into a wound for quick bleeding control.\u00a0 Celox is made with Chito-R\u2122 (chitosan from shrimp shells) that binds to red blood cells to seal severe wounds caused by gunshot, stabs, or blast fragmentation.\u00a0 Allergic to shellfish?\u00a0 No problem, it is not reactive.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Brooks showed me a graphic video of Celox RAPID staunching a femoral artery bleed in an animal test subject.\u00a0 It was from a Navy study in which Celox outperformed <!--more-->Combat Gauze and ChitoGauze in patient survivability.\u00a0 What I saw certainly reinforced \u00a0 RAPID&#8217;s capabilities.\u00a0 Celox RAPID can be separated into smaller portions for mass casualty situations and can also be easily debrided from a wound through irrigation, added Brooks.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Brooks told me that the Celox could be used to stop high pressure arterial bleeding close to or in the torso where tourniquets could not be applied.\u00a0 Again, he demonstrated with a still photo of a grievous wound (this time in a human MVA victim) that was successfully closed with this product.\u00a0 The patient survived.\u00a0 Okay, Doc, you can give the phone a rest.\u00a0 Celox&#8217;s original granulated version&#8217;s effectiveness had been in question because of the delivery method.\u00a0 Their new gauze seems infinitely more practical for the first responder.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/thinblueflorida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/image11.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6341\" src=\"http:\/\/thinblueflorida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/image11.jpg\" alt=\"image\" width=\"349\" height=\"368\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thinblueflorida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/image11.jpg 349w, https:\/\/thinblueflorida.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/image11-284x300.jpg 284w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 349px) 100vw, 349px\" \/><\/a>My friend, who has been a longtime high liability training officer at OCSO, said his agency has begun issuing <a title=\"PDF with More Information\" href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=http:\/\/www.celoxmedical.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Celox-Rapid-introduction.pdf&amp;sa=U&amp;ei=1mKPUv_vAcjH2QW8vIDICQ&amp;ved=0CCoQFjAB&amp;usg=AFQjCNGhYQ8OO2ds7t-DHqLKw8j2eOyyeA\" target=\"_blank\">Celox RAPID<\/a> to their road deputies for carry behind the trauma plates in the pockets of their body armor.\u00a0 He said that after much review and testing, they felt that the deputies could do the most good packing a severe puncture or bullet wound with the Celox RAPID gauze and applying direct pressure.\u00a0 I thought this was an excellent recommendation.\u00a0 I will be adding a Celox RAPID 3&#8243;
