\"\"<\/a>RDR (Rounds Down Range) Holsters<\/a> is a Hollywood, FL company making Kydex\u2122 holsters and accessory carriers for most major brands of concealed carry handguns.\u00a0 One of our longtime readers here at ThinBlueFlorida, M@ (Matt–get it?), met me at SHOT Show out on the main floor.\u00a0 Funny, we both traveled all the way from Florida just to meet in Nevada.\u00a0 M@, who works for RDR, brought me a RDR Micro Carry holster<\/a> for my Kahr PM9.<\/p>\n

Founded by two brothers, RDR is visibly represented by owner Jeff Wilber.\u00a0 Mr. Wilber is very active in the firearms industry.\u00a0 In January 2013, it was announced that Mr. Wilber would be the new Sales Manager for PistolPay, LLC<\/a>, a secure online platform for the purchase of high value items such as firearms, ammunition, accessories, and knives.<\/p>\n

When I went in search of a new holster for my PM9, I checked out RDR\u2019s website.\u00a0 I knew I wanted something minimalist and for IWB carry.\u00a0 Though RDR has models for belt and IWB, the Micro Carry was just what I wanted.\u00a0 I ordered one in Coyote Tan (FDE).\u00a0 The RDR holsters also come in Black, Carbon Fiber, MultiCam, and Military Green, depending on the model.<\/p>\n

RDR uses Kydex exclusively for their products.\u00a0 The starting points for the thermoforming of their holsters are Blueguns<\/a>.\u00a0 M@ said as a Bluegun dealer, they have access to the huge inventory of polyurethane handguns.\u00a0 It also does not hurt that Blueguns is just \u201cup the road\u201d from RDR.<\/p>\n

Once the initial mold is made from a Bluegun, a live firearm is used for final checks to make sure the fit is proper between the gun and holster.\u00a0 As a safety precaution, trigger coverage and clearance for the magazine release and front sight are examined before a holster is green-lighted.<\/p>\n

In my Micro Carry, the Kydex at the mag button is flared out to protect against accidental release.\u00a0 The leading edge of the holster is peaked to provide good clearance for the Kahr\u2019s front sight.\u00a0 M@ told me that they had a new injection molded belt clip that they felt was more durable and better performing than their older one.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a>I thought the tension retention of the Micro Carry was just right.\u00a0 Firm enough to make the PM9 feel locked in, but still forgiving when the gun is drawn, releasing with a reassuring snap.\u00a0 Kydex and other thermoform plastics keep the mouth of the holster open for re-holstering.\u00a0 If you followed the recent online flap about \u201cno-look speed re-holstering,\u201d<\/a> you can see how something that is a great feature can be compromised by stupid technique.\u00a0 Safe gun handling always applies.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a>An upgrade is in the works for the RDR Holsters website, but M@ said pricing is current.\u00a0 The MSRP for my Micro Carry is only $34.95.\u00a0 That is a great price for a nicely manufactured, Made in the USA holster done in thick Kydex.\u00a0 I like mine!<\/p>\n
