\"\"<\/a>I have to start off by saying that this new flashlight by Bushnell Corporation is one of the most interesting things I\u2019ve seen in a while.\u00a0 While it\u2019s not the actual flashlight itself that is so neat, the mesmerizing beam it produces is.\u00a0 This round metal tube makes square light<\/em>!<\/p>\n

The HD Torch is a medium-sized aluminum body LED flashlight.\u00a0 It measures 9 1\/4\u201d long and weighs 9.8 ounces loaded up with 2 CR123 batteries.\u00a0 The head diameter is 1 5\/8\u201d and the body is 1 \u00bc\u201d across.<\/p>\n

Activated by a tail cap on-off switch, this flashlight also has a side button toggles between constant on, strobe mode, and off.\u00a0 Once pushed, the tail cap has an illuminated green \u201cB\u201d that lets you know the unit is ready and allows the side switch to work.\u00a0 The lit up \u201cB\u201d acts as a \u201cFind Me\u201d feature, according to Bushnell.\u00a0 A rotating lanyard ring fixture completes the package.<\/p>\n

At 165 lumens, with a 90 minute run time, the HD Torch puts out good light.\u00a0 What makes it outstanding is that the bright light is uniform from edge to edge in a square shape.\u00a0 It does not<\/em> have the regular old circular center spot with a halo of peripheral light\u2014yawn.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>The Square of Light is amazing.\u00a0 It is captivating in a \u201clike I think I could get some of the younger guys to chase the light around like a crazed dog after a laser dot\u201d sort of captivating.\u00a0 When you look at the lens of the flashlight, you see just a deep opaque well of glass.\u00a0 Nothing in there looks square in the least.\u00a0 Magic!\u00a0 Sorcery!<\/p>\n

Bushnell calls it High Definition Illumination.\u00a0 I\u2019ll buy that.\u00a0 As the distance increases from the flashlight, you still get an evenly distributed area of light that expands with every foot.\u00a0 This makes the quality of the entire illuminated area better than in standard uneven flashlight patterns.<\/p>\n

Click, click.\u00a0 Click, click.\u00a0 I can\u2019t seem to stop turning this thing on and off just to see the light.\u00a0 It also gathered a small crowd in the PD parking lot after dark one shift.\u00a0 Click.\u00a0 People just start coming over to look at it.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>The Bushnell HD Torch is rugged, waterproof, and $109.00 MSRP.\u00a0 I found the HD Torch on-line in the mid-$60 range and lower.\u00a0 There is also a 200 lumen Bone Collector version that I saw in the mid $70\u2019s at retail.\u00a0 Meanwhile, at work I will continue to amaze and astound my friends with its luminescent witchcraft.<\/p>\n
